OOAK Porcelain dolls Eric & Emily by Jan Doehring New Orleans Artist

These beautiful porcelain dolls are by Artist Jan Doehring of New Orleans, Louisiana. Excerpt from her obituary: Ms Doehring was an extraordinary artist from early childhood, known for her skills in doll making, painting, sewing and designing porcelain dolls. In the mid1970's she began to study sculpture and design and mastered clay sculpture, making her own molds for pouring porcelain, thereby beginning her lifelong mastery of doll making.

Her dolls were used in many commercials. Perfume maker Estee Lauder shot a complete series of commercials featuring a model standing amid Jan's dolls and holding one in her arms. Each of her dolls was dressed in a hand-crafted ensemble, which was designed and sewn by Jan. Jan's dolls were also featured at Boyer's, an exclusive Doll Shop in the French Quarter.

Jan continued her doll making until the early 2000's. As the pictures show, the outfits are done in satin and silk and embellished lavishly. Each doll has its own stand and Emily comes with a little dog whose head is attached so it wobbles. These dolls did not come with special boxes, but they will be carefully packed so they arrive in pristine condition. They have not been displayed. Their arms, legs and heads are jointed and the back of the necks are signed by Jan and dated 1998. Please know that your complete satisfaction is my goal for every sale.
