Peony 12.2 (31cm) 1940s Vintage Plush NEW

  

Just born 11th Apil 2020. Everything about Peony is original from the 1940s. She is made from the higest quality 1940s vintage plush.

I've used everything from my grandmothers old stock of fabrics and materials that were stored away. She is a beautiful original baby pink colour (I've not dyed her), the nose is embroidered with 1940s black thread.

And I've gently scissor sculpted two of her paws, slightly tinted her fur to age her. I used a 1940s black vintage boot button for her only eye, there is 1940s pink vintage thread stitching in places on her body as I wanted her to have a pre-loved look and feel.

I've used 1940s black vintage thread on her paws. Her pink ribbon is also from the 1940s which I've slightly aged. Filled with wood shavings and mineral granules so a lovely heavy weight. I'll will be putting up more of my own designed bears, each very different from the last as I love diversity rather than sticking to a theme or a signature bear. I will carry on until I've run out of my grandmothers fabrics and materials to make my bears.

My grandmother (born 1906, died 1986) had all of her fabrics and materials meticulously dated and securely sealed as she used to be a bear maker in her spare time and it is only now that I've taken them out of storage and started to use them as it seemed such a waste of precious material not to do anything with them, especially in these sad circumstances that we all find ourselves in. So I will keep myself occupied for a while at least.

My grandmother had made some bears that she never completed so I'm hoping to finish them off for her in the way she would have wanted them to be. I'm not sure why they haven't been finished but these are from different decades of her life, each pinned with the year she obviously started them.
