This listing is for a hand carved, hand painted, multi-jointed wooden doll. This doll is a one-of-a-kind (OOAK), 7 1/4 tall Asian toddler/baby girl which was custom made for me by Adina Denton Huckins. The doll is signed and dated on the back, Adina Huckins, 5/2012.
Adina Denton Huckins and her sister, and fellow artist in wood, Janet Denton Cordell were hosting a wood carving workshop in which I participated. At this particular workshop, our inspiration was the vintage, pear wood, Door of Hope dolls, made in Shanghai, China in the early 20th century. Our efforts were focused on learning to carve dolls with Asian features. I was particularly charmed by a doll Adina was carving and asked if she would create a small toddler or baby doll for my granddaughter who is Korean American. This doll is the result.
My granddaughter loved this doll and named her Mia. My granddaughter is now a teenager and has outgrown her dolls and moved on to other interests.
So, it is time to find a new, loving, caring home with someone who will truly appreciate and treasure this adorable, personable, little doll. The doll will come with 2 complete and 2 partial outfits. Mia will arrive dressed in an outfit created by Bonika which includes a multi-colored, striped, long sleeved, cotton knit top, matching multi-colored, striped, cotton knit tights, a blue felt jumper with various colored, appliqued, felt flowers and red, patent leather, Mary Jane shoes by Madame Alexander. The shoes are from a Madame Alexander outfit for the 8 Wendy dolls. Her second outfit is a pair of green corduroy overalls and a white, long sleeve blouse with Peter Pan collar from the Madame Alexander's Country Mouse/City Mouse Story Book Collection made for the 8 Wendy doll. Her third (partial) outfit is a pair of pink and white checked cotton overalls that can be worn with the blouse from from second outfit. I think these pink and white overalls may have been made by Boneka for Kish Riley? But they are not tagged, so I'm not really sure. The fourth (partial) outfit is a pair of blue, flower print, corduroy overalls with a small bear tucked in the pocket. These can also be worn with the blouse from the second outfit. These overalls are tagged with the Boneka label. Little Mia will also come with a pair of white, cotton batiste, lace edged underwear made by Boneka.
