Lot/2 OOAK Polymer Clay 112 Scale Dark Emperor & Empress by Cindi Cannon

  
Pair of two 1:12 scale OOAK Asian dolls in the form of a Chinese Emperor and Empress. These fascinating creations are from the amazing Washington state artist, Cindi Cannon. The emperor was done in 2013. I believe the Empress was done about the same time. Although Asian inspired, I have always thought these were Cindi's take on Beauty and the Beast. These dolls have been sculpted from hand mixed polymer clays over a wire skeleton. No molds have been used to create them and no molds have been taken from the sculpts. The lovely Empress has pale skin, red lips, brown eyes, and black hair. She wears a dress of cream-colored silk with embroidered pink flowers and a gold belt. Her outer coat is done in a black cream and gold floral cotton fabric, and she wears black and gold shoes to match the dress. Her hair is held in place with a variety of gold hairpins.

She wears gold earrings and the traditional long fingernail covers. The Emperor is completely furred in brown with long black hair and black fu Manchu mustache and beard.

His underrobe is done in a gold brocade fabric with a red embroidered dragon and red belt. His outer coat is done in the same fabric as the Empress, but with gold and red trim. He wears a traditional Chinese headpiece in gold metal and chain on his topknot. You can even see his gold claws. The Empress stands 5 1/2" tall and the Emperor 6" tall.

They do not have bases but can stand on their own. These dolls are in excellent condition. They have been stored and never displayed. I have the artist cert for the Emperor, but not for the Empress. I can offer layaway if interested.
