OOAK Artist Santa Claus Doll by Lois Clarkson. I completed this large (30tall) jolly Santa in 2021. He has a beautiful face with a kind expression. He is a one of a kind santa inspired by my collection of antique postcards, one of which is included with this santa.

I sculpt each head individually from a lump of Sculpey clay, insert German hand blown glass eyes, paint the complexion and add a sheep wool beard. My husband made his body of wood and wire and I covered and shaped it with batting to give him that santa figure. Dressed in vintage red cotton velvet, he carries antique toys including: an unusual old cotton Christmas tree, a celluloid dog, Putz house and metal Tootsie Toy in the pack slung over his back. Another cardboard house is tucked under his arm and a chalk doll is nestled in the pocket of his coat. An old 1950's Christmas stocking carries a teddy bear.

On his feet are antique candy container boots and Old mica snow sparkles on his beard. Antique tarnished tinsel garland completes this very Christmasy fellow! I have been making santas for over 35 years and he is one of my favorites.
