OOAK Barbie doll historical repaint, Celtic Lady, Early Medieval Irish

  

This is a hand repaint I did of a vintage'90s Barbie, using Derwent watercolour pencils. She represents a Celtic/Brythonic lady of the early Middle Ages, 5-6th century AD.

Her entire outfit is handmade according to reproduction patterns, including the sandals which I created based off historical fashion plates. She wears a brown linen sleeveless tunic with a leather belt and sandals. Her blue wool mantle is pinned with a simple silver "fibula" pin, and she wears a silver torc and circlet. This doll has been through a lot in the past; i have cleaned and restored her to the best of my ability. However her neck has a few cracks, also the vinyl split at the hairline and had to be glued.

I strive for as much realism as possible when painting the faces. I use almost exclusively repurposed materials so these are eco friendly too: It brought me great pleasure crafting this artist/fashion doll and I hope you will enjoy her for years to come! Please do not get her wet or attempt to restyle her hair with heat etc. Keep her out of reach of kids and pets and handle with care; she is NOT a toy!
