World-renowned NIADA doll artist, Robert Keene McKinley, handcrafted this lively "Can Can Girl" from paper clay. Bob's primary chosen medium was paper clay, which is a moist clay with the addition of paper pulp which adds more working strength. With closed eyes, a face fully painted with clown makeup, and a beaming smile, Bob's whimsical doll radiates effervescent joy and enthusiasm, much like his own. You cannot help but return her broad grin! This museum-quality character doll is depicted in a seated position and dons a multicolored vibrant circus style costume. Her ensemble is nothing short of superb! Its ornate detail and multiple mediums demonstrate Bob's immense talents in not only sculpting but also crafting unforgettable attire for his characters. With ever an eye for detail, Bob even decorated her hat with a black feather adornment. This Can Can Girl is prepared to dance her way into your heart! Overall excellent condition with no breaks or repairs to the paper clay structure.

Her hand-painted features also remain vibrant and unscathed from the passage of time. Her outfit is lightly stained on the backside of her pants from glue residue. This extraordinary piece was affixed to her acrylic seat with glue and then displayed in her original acrylic presentation box. The top of the acrylic box has a few scuffs, but still displays well. I have included my copy of "Contemporary Doll Magazine, Fall 1991, " which features a detailed article about Bob's work, as well as a hand-written/signed note from him regarding doll sales and acquisitions.
