Peggy Shippen Handmade OOAK Art Doll (TURN) American Revolution
I've been lucky with it in the past. Peggy Shippen was the wife of Benedict Arnold. Major Andre, the British spy who tried to steal West Point and was hung by Washington, did a sketch of her when she was nineteen and living in Philadelphia where she was born. The doll is based upon that sketch. She is twelve inches tall, not including her wig which adds a couple of inches, handmade, one-of-a-kind. Her head, neck, limbs, and skeleton are sculpted with PREMO! She is wired, with a wooden spine, and pretty pose-able. Her body is a white poly jacquard stuffed with wool. She wears a cotton petticoat and lace trimmed pantalettes.
Her gown is a silky poly blend trimmed with handmade antique lace. Her face is painted with acrylics and sealed.
Her wig is raw wool, lightly dyed with indigo.
